Budget Plans

How do budget plans work

Budget plans are designed to be affordable and consist of pre-made plans created for different goals and performance levels (e.g., marathon plan with 8 hours of training per week, 14 hours of training per week, Ironman plan for beginners, etc.).

!!Important!!!

In our opinion, such pre-designed plans should be viewed more as a guide and, according to generally accepted training science, not as a training plan. One of the recognized and valid training principles is, for example, the principle of individuality, which cannot be implemented in this way. We have been creating training plans since 1997, and we have never been able to use the same plan for even two athletes. Taking into account the athlete's performance level, availability, goals, and development, each plan is unique and never a fixed construct. On the contrary, a training plan is constantly adapted to the results of previous training sessions and optimized.

In our opinion, this information is very important in the context of open and honest education. We want to provide open information and insight into the real work of training planning. A pre-made plan has only one goal: the price.

It is not without reason that we say, from athlete to athlete—from person to person—that contact between trainer and athlete is a key element.

Advantages of budget plans

These plans are based on decades of experience and take expected fatigue into account in order to avoid overexertion. In practice, this means that we know the objective impact of a training session, which can be calculated precisely today, and we know how hundreds of athletes have performed and what the average impact actually was. This average is also incorporated into the planning. Incidentally, the deviation arises because almost no training can be completed 100% as planned, so there is often a deviation right from the start, which is where the trainer comes into play, as described above.
The budget plans therefore also include a buffer where the trainer can really push the limits in the individual planning.

Features

  • inexpensive

  • Available for various performance classes, availabilities, and targets

  • Detailed workouts and delivery via a modern training platform with web application and apps for mobile devices

  • Evaluation options in the system, e.g., weekly loads, time in training zones, graphs...

  • Training results from various devices (Wahoo, Coros, Polar, Garmin...) can be automatically uploaded to the system.

  • Sync with accounts such as Strava, Wahoo, Garmin...

Restriction on training planning

  • not individualized

  • No structured workout files for synchronization with GPS sports watches or bike computers that then automatically display the training session.

  • No further consultation, answering questions, or contact with the trainer

  • No support for technical questions about the system beyond the help videos; questions must be directed to Final Surge customer service (may only be available in English).

  • No indoor alternative for cycling between October and March, or selection, but only one option

As mentioned above, these plans are suitable for bringing structure to your own training at a low price, seeing how it works, and bringing structure to your training breaks to avoid overexertion, but not when it comes to individual peak performance. For the purposes stated, these ready-made plans are a good start for simply getting a feel for how individual planning could look and work technically.

The results achieved in a real training plan cannot be achieved in this way. It is no coincidence that the percentage of athletes who deteriorate after leaving individual training supervision (even with more time invested) is almost 100%.
